Implementation

Based on the CBI assessment, it was recommended that BL Companies, MERG, and the Meriden Chamber of Commerce convene a City Center Advisory Group (CCAG), made up of representatives from a broad range of diverse stakeholders, to meet regularly, provide detailed input, and help guide the development of the final plan for Phase II. 

The goals of the CCAG include providing an arena for public participation in the Phase II development process; communication of progress and activities to the public; building community ownership and advocacy for the plan; and, building leadership to help implement the plan in the long run. 

The topics for discussion for the CCAG included the main components of the Phase II planning process, and integrated the topics identified during the assessment as issues of concern.  Some discussion topics included:

Creating a sense of place
Market factors and attracting private investment
Flood control
Transportation, traffic and phasing
