Privately Owned Housing

In addition to the Mills Memorial Apartments, the Meriden City Center Initiative area includes 176 apartments that are privately owned. Of these, 164 comprise the Parkside Apartments owned by CR Parkside Limited Partnership, an interest of the Carabetta family, which owns numerous rental properties throughout central Connecticut. Units are one, two and three bedroom townhouses that are widely dispersed in nine buildings over a 5.4 acre area bounded by Park, Cedar, Center and Pratt Streets. There is an average of 18 units per building.

The remaining 12 units are found in three multi-family properties, located at 18 Camp Street, 24 Camp Street and 12 George Street. The largest is 18 Camp Street, which is estimated to contain at least 6 units based on city assessor information. It is pictured below (assessor’s photo), with 24 Camp Street, a four family, partially visible to the right. The 12 George Street residence is listed in assessor’s data as a two family home.
